THREE-LEGGED STRAY DOG: ‘Chocky’ surrendered to VOSD for lifelong specialised care

Chocky, a much-loved stray dog befriended both people and other dogs with her loving nature. The playful girl’s life took a turn for the worse when she met with a road accident – resulting in one of her limbs being crushed beyond repair. It had to be amputated immediately, after which she slowly but surely limped back to recovery.

Her caretaker then tried to integrate Chocky back with her pack, but the rest of the siblings refused to accept her and started bullying her, making it even more difficult for her to eat or live peacefully. To add to that, there was heavy moving traffic on the road which meant the poor dog could get hurt again.

Because of her condition the caretaker Charani decided it was best to find a safe place for the dog and she requested to surrender her to VOSD.

Despite having only 3 limbs, the adorable Chocky has adapted so well! She loves running around the open areas of the sanctuary and playing with other dogs. When she’s tired from all the running around she finds a human to pet her until she can fall asleep.

Special needs dogs find it extremely difficult to survive on the streets – they either can’t fend for shelter and food, or are at the risk of being hit by vehicles. VOSD is a safe haven for hundreds of dogs like Chocky whose limbs are amputated or deformed.
