As a young girl, I used to dream. I dreamed of having a good education and working in an environment that gave me the chance to be creative and innovative.
Today, I smile at that little girl.
Having the opportunity to work in an environment that values and listens to the voices of women makes me happy.
As well as supporting female staff, UNODC Lab shows young girls aspiring to become scientists a glimpse of the world of forensic science ( https://bit.ly/3rSmsC3 ). As a female scientist, I take pride in the idea that women can contribute their unique knowledge and experiences to foster innovative solutions in specific areas.
This is why we need to spread awareness about the importance of supporting and empowering girls as they strive to realize their full potential and achieve their dreams.
We commemorate the Day of the Girl to acknowledge the unique challenges and barriers that girls still face in our society, while also acknowledging their great contributions. Girls should be able to thrive, learn, and grow in a world where education, gender equality, and girls’ rights are protected.
